The devices will talk to each other through ANY available connection including Bluetooth, Cellular, and/or WiFi!
As a
Swimmingly User
I want to
Understand how the devices will connect with Swimmingly Version 10
Solution
There is no longer a need for the a dedciated WiFi network. The devices will "talk" to each other through any available connection including Bluetooth, Cellular, and/or WiFi, & more!
Swimmingly has once and for all removed any necessary "hardware" required to run your swim meet! That's right - that means no more dedicated WiFi router required!
New for this summer and moving forward, all devices that are logged into a Swimmingly meet will be able to "talk" to each other through ANY available connection, including Bluetooth, Cellular, and/or WiFi, and more!
Please Note: Any available connection including Bluetooth, Cellular, and/or WiFi are more than adequate. The best part is the Swimmingly App knows to use them all interchangeably based on what works best at your venue!
Common FAQ's regarding Swimmingly v10:
"Does this mean my pool needs WiFi in order for Swimmingly to work?"
Not at all! If your pool does have WiFi (even if it's not the strongest connection), we still recommend having volunteers connected to the pool WiFi - just like they normally do.
However, like we said, the App knows to use the best connection available. So if your pool has absolutely no WiFi at all, that is not a problem! The devices will connect through Bluetooth and/or cellular!
"Will we still need to use our Swimmingly WiFi router?"
You do not! Feel free to keep the Swimmingly WiFi router in the storage room this summer!
"Our cell service at our pool is very poor. Will it still work?"
Yes! The devices will use the other available connections if they are stronger than the cell service to support. Remember, performance of other apps on your phone via cell service is not indicative of the performance of the Swimmingly App. Having the cell service available is additive to the performance of the Swimmingly App as it is yet another connection at the disposal of the app.
